ABOUT

HISTORY

Portland BMX Club has a long history in Portland. The club is over 40 years old and has been dedicated to introducing new riders from 2 years old to the sport of Bicycle Motor Cross BMX. BMX is an all inclusive sport and we welcome anyone to come and learn more. Persons of all genders aged from 2 years to 50+ are able to compete in this sport. The track is also used by schools and other community groups for activities and school bicycle education programs.

Portland BMX Club is a BMX track located at Alexandra Park in Portland Victoria. The track is used for racing and training club members in BMX, and general riding by the community, as it is open to the public when the club isn't using the facility.

The club has approximately 50 riders as well as approximately 40 volunteers.

We aim to make riding fun!

MISSION

The Portland BMX recognises that as a small regional Victorian BMX club, we must continuously improve our club facilities and track to enhance the experience and ensure their safety by members and the public when attending the venue.

This would not be possible without the continued support of our Committee of Management, our amazing volunteers and support from members, families and community.

With support from the Glenelg Shire Council, United Way Glenelg and our Sponsors, Portland BMX Club is awaiting response from Sport and Recreation VIC on the application for an infrastructure grant. This will enable us to finish the replacement of the Canteen and Club rooms, replace the 2.5mtr start hill with a 5mtr, an undercover staging ramp,  replacement registration and storage hut, and asphalted berms.

This will allow the club to grow in the sport of BMX by attracting new members and have the ability to bring / host Silver level AusCycling events to the region.
